| European Preparatory Assembly to be held in Kiev, Ukraine, 6-8 June |

The meeting of the European Preparatory Assembly (EPA) on preparation of the 5th European Social Forum (ESF) will be held on June 6-8, 2008 at the Trade Union House in Kyiv. The Forum is scheduled for 17-21 September of the current year in Malmö, Sweden. The EPA meeting in Kyiv will become an important tool for promotion and development of social movements, trade unions and public organizations of anti-neoliberal orientation. The initiative to organize the EPA in Kyiv and promotion of participation of Ukrainian organizations in the ESF are initiated by Social Forum in Ukraine (SFU), Ukrainian Social Forum (USF), and supported by the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine (FPU), independent trade unions and Ombudsman of Ukraine.
Regarding the agenda of EPA, the Organizing Committee in Ukraine would like to call participants’ attention to the problems of labour migration, struggle against fascism and racism, development of independent trade-union movement, neoliberal reforms in housing and communal services, illegal building up of public spaces, privatization of hostels and expulsion of people. These topics are extremely relevant for the countries of Eastern Europe and, of course, relate directly to the whole Europe. At the moment the final agenda is being discussed, and the detailed information about this will be provided soon.
